Loving The Church

Start with prayer.
Praise God for the blessing of medical technology and gifted medical workers. Pray for their safety and strength.
Confess your sins to God and ask him to help you change.
Ask him to help you focus during this time.

Read John 13:31-35.
Why did Jesus say “Now is the Son of Man glorified”? v.30
Where was Jesus going? v.33
What was the new commandment Jesus gave to the disciples (the church)?
How will all people know who Jesus disciples are? v.35
Do you have love for the brothers and sisters in Christ at your church? What evidence is there of this?
Do you love them like Jesus (sacrificial and unending) or the world (major limitations)?

End with prayer.
Ask God to fill you with his love and to help you love others more.
Pray for the person you know that has not experienced the love of God.
Pray for the next person or family in the church directory.

Death Leads To Life

Start with prayer.
Praise God for your weekend and for another week full of opportunities to glorify him.
Confess your sins to God and ask him to help you change.
Ask him to help you focus during this time. (turn phone on airplane mode.)

Read John 12:20-26
Read Matthew 16:24-25
What point is Jesus making with the illustration of the grain of wheat? v.24-25 help explain this
What is required for the grain to produce fruit?
What is required of us to gain eternal life?
How does Matthew 16:24-25 take this a step further.
What would it look like for you to take up your own cross? Matthew 16:24
Are you willing to deny yourself and the ways of the world and follow Jesus? Why or why not?
What is baptism a picture of?

End with prayer.
Tell Jesus you are willing to deny yourself and follow him no matter what the cost. (If that is really how you feel.)
Ask God to help you follow Jesus pattern of living and not the worlds.
Pray for the person you know that is enslaved to this world.
Pray for the next person or family in the church directory.
Pray for the coronavirus to end.

The Suffering King

Start with prayer.
Praise Jesus for his sacrifice and suffering that he went through for you.
Confess your sins to God and ask him to help you change.
Ask him to help you focus during this time.

Read John 11:45-57.
How sad is this story? Jesus brought someone back from the dead and these religious zealots only cared about power and so their response to a life-giving miracle was to kill Jesus.
Was this God’s will for these men to respond this way?
Look up Isaiah 53:10 to help you answer that question.
Compare this to the story of Saul and David. Saul was a terrible king and while he was king God anointed David to replace him as king. Saul found out and tried to kill David and David went into hiding. But wasn’t it God’s will?
David suffered for God’s will. Jesus suffered for God’s will. What makes you think that you are not supposed to suffer?
Read John 15:18 and Matthew 16:24. Why is this a picture of suffering for all Jesus disciples?
Have you really contemplated what God’s will is for you? Do you really believe that the “American Dream” is God’s will?
Its time to let go of “The American Dream” and embrace God’s calling on your life which is complete surrender to his will.
True freedom is found in following Jesus not economic security or political control.

End with prayer.
Ask God to help you understand what it means to completely surrender to his will.
Ask God to help you follow Jesus no matter what the cost.
Pray for the salvation of the person you know that does not believe.
Pray for the next person or family on the church directory.

House of Prayer

Start with prayer.
Praise God for as many blessings as you can think of.
Confess your sins to God and ask for strength to be faithful to him.
Ask God to help you focus as you read and pray.

Read John 2:13-22
What did Jesus find in the temple?
What should he have found in the temple?
“zeal for your house” is a reference to Psalm 69:9 and points to Jesus zeal for God’s house.
He valued the temple and wanted to keep it holy as a place to honor and worship God.
When Jesus said “destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up” what was he referring to?
Read 2 Corinthians 3:16. What does that say about believers?
Read 1 Peter 2:4-5 What does that say about believers?
If you as a born again Christian are a temple of God do you have zeal for it?
Do you fight to keep it holy?
Are you a place of prayer or just a place of business?
Does your life look more like a holy God or more like a fallen world?
How can you increase your zeal for your temple?

End with prayer.
Thank God for this passage.
Thank Jesus for making you into a temple of God.
Ask God to continue to help you live a holy life pleasing to him.
Pray for the person that is not yet a temple of God. Pray that they would hear the gospel and be saved.
Pray for the next person or family in the church directory.
