The Bread of Life

Start with prayer.
Spend time praising God.
Confess your sins to God and ask him to help you change.
Ask God to help you focus.

Read John 6:22-35
This passage is deeply connected to the story about Jesus feeding the 5,000+.
Jesus provided physical food and now he is telling them about spiritual food; namely himself.
What did Jesus tell the crowd to work for in v.27?
What does Jesus say is the work of God that feeds the soul in v.29?
What does Jesus compare himself to?
What does Jesus call himself in v.32?
What does Jesus call himself in v.35?
What are the benefits of the bread of life?
Do you believe in the bread of life? Have you tasted it and been blessed?
Is your soul weary and troubled? Do you lack peace and joy?
It is because your soul is hungry and you need the bread of life.

End with prayer.
Tell Jesus that you believe and that you desire for him to fill your spirit.
Thank God for this passage and for spiritual food.
Pray for the person you know that has not tasted the bread of life.
Pray for the next person or family in the church directory.

Do Not Be Afraid

Start with prayer.
Praise God for a new day and pray that you would glorify God with your day.
Confess your sins to God and ask God to help you change.
Ask God to help you focus during this time.

Read John 6:16-21
Where was Jesus when his disciples took the boat out to sea?
Why in the world did they leave without him? Read Matt. 14:22
What did Jesus command lead them into?
This is a good picture of the obedient Christian life.
Think about all the characters in the Bible that God leads into trials.
To be Jesus disciple is to head into trouble.
When trouble comes remember these words “It is I; do not be afraid.”
The storm could not keep Jesus away and neither will our troubles.

End with prayer.
Thank Jesus for being there with you in your troubles. Thank him for the peace that he can provide in the toughest of situations.
Pray that you would be obedient to his commands even if they make life harder.
Pray for the person you know that does not know Jesus.
Pray for the next person or family in the church directory.

Physical or Spiritual King?

Start with prayer.
Spend time praising God.
Confess your sins to God and ask for forgiveness and strength to change.
Ask God to help you focus during your time of worship as you read and pray.

Read John 6:1-15
Why did the crowd follow him to the other side of the Sea of Galilee?
When Israel wandered in the wilderness God provided “manna” for them which was a thin bread-like substance.
How is this similar to that story? What does this tell us about Jesus?
What did the people call Jesus after he provided food for them in v. 14?
How is this title NOT an accurate description of who Jesus is?
Why did Jesus NOT want the crowd to make him into their king?
How might physical blessings have a negative affect on our relationship with God?
What did Jesus NOT want to get dragged into or be a part of?

End with prayer.
Praise God for meeting your physical needs but even more so for meeting your spiritual needs.
Praise God for giving you peace and joy. Praise him for your salvation and for eternal life.
Pray for the person you know that does not know Jesus.
Pray for the next person or family in the church directory.

Enough Evidence To Believe

Start with prayer.
Spend time praising God.
Spend time confessing sin and praising God for his grace.
Ask God to help you focus and to remove distractions.

Read John 5:30-47
Have you ever been called to the witness stand in a hearing? I have not and I hope I never have to.
What witnesses does Jesus talk about in this passage?
What is the greatest testimony to who Jesus is? v.36
What do these things tell us about Jesus?
What issue was Jesus confronting?
Many people ask “Is there enough evidence to prove Jesus is God The Son?”
What is Jesus answer to this very common question?
Do you believe? Have you been given enough evidence?
What would you testify about Jesus? That he was a good teacher, just another nice religious man or God The Son?
If Jesus is God The Son does he belong on the shelf in a buffet of man made world religions?
Does your life testify that Jesus is the way to eternal life or the law is the way to eternal life?

End with prayer.
Confess your belief in Jesus to Jesus himself.
Thank God for providing all the evidence you need for belief.
Pray for the person you know that does not believe.
Pray for the next person or family in the church directory

The Son of God

Start with prayer.
Spend time praising God.
Confess your sins and praise God for his grace and mercy.
Ask God to help you focus.

Read John 5:18-29.
Why did the Jews want to kill Jesus?
What does v.19-23 reveal about who Jesus is? What word appears over and over?
A key theme in John is that Jesus is The Son of God.
John 20:31 gives us the purpose of this book. What is it?
Why do you think it is so important to know that Jesus is The Son of God?
If a good teacher died for you would he have saved you from sin and death?
Could a nice man have risen from the dead and defeated Satan?
Could a “good” man have been good enough to be the “lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world”?
Think about it. God himself died for us not just a human.

End with prayer.
Thank Jesus for his sacrifice.
Ask God to help you live life to the fullest and for his glory.
Pray for the person that does not know Jesus The Son of God.
Pray for the next person in the church directory.

Jesus Is Our True Remedy

Start with prayer.
Spend time praising God.
Confess your sins to God and thank him for his grace.
Ask God to help you focus during this time.

Read John 5:1-17.
What did Jesus ask the man who had been an invalid for 38 years?
What did the invalid think was the remedy to his problem?
What was the true remedy for him?
What day did Jesus heal the man?
What did the Jews say to the man who was healed?
What is the problem with their response?
Notice that the man’s name is never mentioned and that his first identity is invalid and his second identity is healed.
Can you relate to this at all? How?
What did Jesus tell the “healed” man in v.14?
What came first the healing or the good fruit?
How did Jesus feel about the Sabbath? v.17
What false remedies are you turning to for healing or to “fix” you?

Close in prayer.
Turn to Jesus the true remedy and ask him to heal your soul and to renew a right spirit within you.
Thank Jesus for sacrificing so much so that you can be healed and produce the things of God.
Pray for the person you know that has not been healed by Jesus yet.
Pray for the next person or family in the church directory.

Confess your sins to him and praise him for his forgiveness and grace and for making you new.

Why did the official ask Jesus to heal his son?
What would have kept him from asking?
What does this healing tell us about Jesus?
Do you have the faith to ask Jesus for big things?
Read James 5:14-16.
What does this passage tell us to do?
Are you practicing these things in your life?

End with prayer.
Ask God to give you faith to pray for big things.
Praise God for the privilege of prayer and for listening to your requests.
Pray for the person you know that does not have faith.
Pray for the next person or family in the church directory.

Telling Others About Jesus

Start with prayer.
Praise God for the privilege of knowing him and for the privilege of prayer.
Confess that you are not worthy to be in his presence and confess your sins to him and pray for forgiveness.
Ask him to help you focus.

Read John 4:39-45
This passage connects to the beginning of Ch.4 when Jesus met the Samaritan woman at the well.
Jesus pointed out her sin to her but he also offered her living water and she believed in Jesus.
Why did many Samaritans believe in Jesus in v.39?
This is a good reminder to us that God can use our story and our belief in Jesus to lead others to Jesus.
What did the Samaritans confess in v.42?
This was a huge deal that Samaritans were confessing this and not Jews because The Messiah was to come through the Jewish people. But John 3:16 told us that God loves “the world”.
Who welcomed Jesus in v.42? These were likely Jewish people. These were Jesus people whom God also loved.
Have you shared your story to help others believe in Jesus?
She only shared the part of meeting Jesus and how that impacted her. You don’t have to share your whole life story but you can share with others how much know Jesus has helped you change and helped you enjoy life.

End with prayer.
Thank God for the testimony of the Samaritan woman and ask God to use your story to lead others to believe in Jesus.
Pray that you would share your story with the person you have been praying for that does not know Jesus.
Pray for the next person or family in the church directory.
